Obituary for Roger Joseph Robidoux

Roger Joseph Robidoux
Suddenly at his residence on Thursday April 21, 2016, Roger Joseph Robidoux of Cypress River MB passed away at the age of 64 years.

Roger leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Janice (nee Olafson), sons Michael (Kaitlan) of Edmonton AB, Marc of Edmonton; sister Lorraine (Stan) Penner of Cypress River, brothers Denis (Cathy) of Winnipeg, Marcel (Debbie) of Cypress River, Florent of Winnipeg , Ed (Shelley) of Binscarth as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Roger was predeceased by his mother Therese in 2004 and by his father Hubert in 2014. He is survived by his aunt Sr. Juliette Robidoux of Winnipeg, and in-laws Dan (Bev), Colleen (Vern), Marla (Brent). Roger will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly, with so many fond memories of family camping and gatherings.

Roger was raised on the Robidoux family farm southeast of Cypress, the same farm on which he and Janice would build their log home where they raised their sons. He had a great passion for horses and motorcycles from a young age, always wanting to give his siblings carriage rides. As the oldest son Roger always felt at home watching over his younger brothers, helping Hubert with the farming and chores. He and Marcel would eventually take over the grain farming together for many years, as both their families would be greatly involved. As Roger's focus shifted from grain farming to cattle producing, he took great pride creating the respected RJR name within the Simmental cattle community. The farm life of Manitoba and the mountains of western Canada were Roger's favourite places to be.

After having farmed for so many years, retirement allowed them to travel frequently to the mountains at any available opportunity. Roger and Janice moved to Alberta temporarily to live in their RV surrounded by mountains, mowing lawn at the Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course. Roger loved the scenery of the mountain roads especially from their motorcycle, moving from 2 wheels to 3 over the last few years.

Being part of the community was always important to Roger, and he enjoyed being involved in the town maintenance and many part time and seasonal jobs within the area. He touched the lives of many people everywhere he went; he will be missed greatly.

Prayers & visitation will be held on Thursday April 28, 2016 at 7:30 pm in the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, Holland MB. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday April 29, 2016 at 2:30 pm at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, with Father Jose Montepeque & Father John McKenzie as Celebrants. Eulogy at 2:15 pm prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the St. John Berchmans Parish Cemetery.
