Obituary for George William Hanna

George William Hanna
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George William Hanna of Baldur, MB, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday July 22, 2017, at the age of 82.

George is survived by his step-daughter Sherry (Gerry) Andrushuk of Regina SK, step-son Stacy Twigge of Red Deer AB; step-grandchildren Daisha, Quade, Kyla, Braydon, Zachary and great step-granddaughter Aubrey; cousins Gary (Kathy) Hanna of Pinawa MB, Bonnie Hanna of Winnipeg MB, Judy Hanna of Winnipeg MB; Alice Hanna of Brunkild, Garth (Audrey) Hanna of Brunkild MB, Kelly (Doug) Dobrowolski of Domain MB as well as many close friends & neighbours. George was predeceased by his father Norman in 1974 and by his mother Katrina (nee Anderson) in 1985.

George was born in the R.M. of Strathcona and raised in Baldur. He farmed with his dad and worked as a mechanic at DeBates Garage and later at Dearsley’s Agricultural Supplies, and lastly retired as a custodian at the Baldur School. George could fix anything when it came to vehicles in his day and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey and curled in many bonspiels. You could often see George driving his scooter around town to visit with the local town folk, to the local coffee shop, check on a Baldur Regals game or other town activities. George has touched many lives due to his generosity and kindness and will be solely missed.

A Celebration of George's life will be held on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Baldur MB, with Pastor Laurel Seyfert officiating. Private interment will take place in the Baldur Cemetery, with lunch to follow at the Baldur Hall.
Please respect the “scent free” environment. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Baldur and Area Endowment Fund, Box 40, Baldur MB R0K 0B0.
