Obituary for Valerie Susan Ransome

Valerie Susan Ransome
With great sadness we said good-bye to our sister, Valerie Susan Ransome of Treherne, Manitoba on Friday, August 25th. Val passed away at the Tiger Hills Health Centre with her family by her side. She was 62.

Valerie was born on March 2, 1955, the fourth child of six to Clarence and Betty Ransome. She spent her growing up years in Treherne, Manitoba, and then worked at various jobs in Winnipeg and Winkler. Along the way she made many good friends at her work places and in the church. Her family was important to her and she reached out in many ways to keep us close. She had just recently come back “home” to retire in Treherne and we are grateful for the family bonding and the friendships she made during the remaining few months of her life.

Val leaves to mourn her passing, her sisters, Penny Lee, Judy Ransome and Conni Ransome, her brothers, Pat Ransome and Jim Ransome and brother in law, Larry Lee. She is also survived by her nieces, Jody (Brent) Budz, Michele (Kevin) Lanyon and nephew, Tyler Lee, grandnieces, Hannah, Makenna, Aubrey and Callie, grandnephew, Logan, her uncles, Art Ransome, Stan (Jessie) Ransome and her aunt, Noreen Scott and many cousins. She is also lovingly remembered by her close friends, Annette Van Den Bosch and Eileen (Pete) Klassen. Val was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Betty Ransome.

We thank all the staff at Tiger Hills Health Centre for the compassionate care they provided in Val’s struggle with cancer.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30th at 2:00 in the Treherne United Church with Rev. Chuck Ross officiating. Private family interment will take place prior to the service in the Woodlands Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the service in the Treherne United Church basement.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Val’s memory to the Treherne United Church Memorial Fund, Treherne, MB. R0G2V0, the Treherne Palliative Care Unit, Box 130, Treherne, MB. R0G 2V0 or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
