He married Eila Kinnunen from Sylvan Lake Alberta on August 27, 1953. At this time, Dad worked on the oil rigs and they lived in several places in Alberta and North West Territories. When they started a family of their own, it was time to find a permanent home. They moved to Eila's fathers farm at Sylvan Lake and also rented Norman's uncle Siggi's land. In 1961, Norman, Eila and family moved to Baldur to take over the farm from aging Uncle Joe. The farm has remained in the Sigurdson family for 137 years. Mom and Dad moved to the town of Baldur in 2006.

Dad has captured many memorable events with his video camera for many years taping anything from dances to funerals. Mom and Dad danced and danced. Whenever there was a dance, no matter where, they were there. In June 2017, Dad took residence at the Personal Care Home in Baldur.
