My deepest condolences on your loss Karen. I don't recall ever being at her house without something cooling in the kitchen from the oven,canner etc. She was always willing to share the "goodies" of the day. A very kind generous lady.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness. Cookie was a kind and generous lady. Not to mention a wonderful cook and baker, having to compete against her at the fair was tough. I enjoyed my Saturday afternoons working at the Cypress Motor Inn, when Karen and Cookie would come in for lunch, we would visit and have some good laughs.

Story shared: Sponge Cake

Cookie knew that I loved her cooking. When I lived in the city and traveled with Karen, Cookie would send care packages with us. Well one time on an Firday night when we got home Cookie had a "whip cream sponge cake" for me. It looked delicious and I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into this delicious whip cream covered cake with strawberries for decoration. I raced into mom and dad's house to get a knife to cut the cake and dive in. Well to my surprise I couldn't cut the cake as it was really made out of foam rubber. But I did lick off the whip cream and ate the strawberries. We had such a laugh over this. I thought it was a fantastic joke!! Needles to say I didn't return the foam rubber in case I needed to give Cookie a cake. Although I guess she owed me a joke because on her 59th birthday I gave her a cake with Happy 95th birthday. There was alway lots of laughter at her house and many pranks played. Such great memmories!!
